Post War California artist Joan
Savo was active in the San Francisco North Beach area in the 1950’s, and
later on the Monterey Peninsula. She had numerous exhibitions including a
Solo Exhibition at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in 1964.
Savo worked in a broadly brushed figurative style. In the 1970’s she
practiced geometric abstraction. Critics of her time considered her the
logical successor to David Park. Her work is held in may outstanding
private collections as well as several prestigious
public collections.
