Pablo Picasso
(1881-1973)
Pablo Picasso was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain. Although born
in Spain, he worked primarily in France. He was a painter, sculptor, graphic
artist and ceramist. He is generally considered in his technical virtuosity,
enormous versatility and incredible originality and prolificacy to have been
the foremost figure in Twentieth-Century art. Picasso died on April 8, 1973
in Paris, France.
Picasso's black and white image of the dove of peace arriving at the 'Dance
For Peace' couldn't have been more timely. Only the master could have
created so much joy and hopefulness so effortlessly. The lithograph is
signed, in pencil, in the lower right by Picasso. It is accompanied by a
certificate of authenticity from the National Art Guild, Peace Party Edition
(Paris, France) registration number PPSH7.
