Born in Kansas city in 1948, William Hook attended the Kansas City Art
Institute, the University of New Mexico, the Art Center College of Design in
Los Angeles and studied extensively in Perugia, Italy. He was named "Acrylic
Artist of the Year" in 1996 by the National Academy of Design.
Among his many honors and awards are: Artists of America - Master Artist
Award (2000); New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Featured Poster Artist (1996);
"Covering the West" - Best of the Southwest Award (1996); Santa Fe Opera
Featured Poster Artist (1994); National Arts for the Park - Best Landscape
Award (1992).
His paintings are in the permanent collection of the Denver Art Museum;
Tucson Art Museum; Forbes Museum, New York;
Genesee Museum, New York; Pioneer's Museum, Colorado Springs; University of
New Mexico Fine Arts Museum. Hook is a member of Acrylic Painters of
America; Master Artist, Artists of America, California Art Club - Artist
Member; Instructor, Fechin Institute; Instructor, Scottsdale Artist's
School; Mountain Oyster Club - Artist Member.
